Armenia, Month by Month

Armenia changes with the seasons. Each month brings its own landscapes, weather, road conditions, and travel opportunities.

Here is what to expect throughout the year — which destinations are at their best, where seasonal conditions may make travel more challenging, and how to plan your itinerary accordingly.

April

Spring is fully taking hold. The Ararat Valley comes alive with wildflowers, lower-lying areas turn green, and longer days make travel increasingly comfortable. Higher mountain passes, however, remain weather-dependent, and conditions can change from week to week.

Best conditions

  • ✦ Khor Virap — Clear days can bring particularly impressive views of Mount Ararat.
  • ✦ Garni / Geghard — Green landscapes, spring scenery, and wildflowers.
  • ✦ Etchmiadzin — Spring is in full effect, with lush green surroundings and comfortable travel conditions.

Where conditions may be more challenging

  • ✕ Tatev — Melting snow can leave some roads muddy and slower.
  • ✕ Lake Sevan — Winter conditions may still linger at higher elevations, and the weather can change quickly.

Events this month
