Armenia, Month by Month

Armenia changes with the seasons. Each month brings its own landscapes, weather, road conditions, and travel opportunities.

Here is what to expect throughout the year — which destinations are at their best, where seasonal conditions may make travel more challenging, and how to plan your itinerary accordingly.

July

Summer is at its peak. Valleys and southern regions can be hot, while the mountains offer cooler air and greener landscapes. Long summer days make it possible to see more, while Lake Sevan becomes one of the country's main summer destinations.

Best conditions

  • ✦ Lake Sevan — Warm water for swimming and especially pleasant mornings by the lake.
  • ✦ Dilijan — Cooler mountain air, lush forests, and a welcome escape from the summer heat.
  • ✦ Tsaghkadzor — A cooler mountain climate, green landscapes, and opportunities for outdoor activities.

Where conditions may be more challenging

  • ✕ Goris — Summer heat can make long daytime outdoor activities less comfortable.
  • ✕ Kapan — Active itineraries are best planned for the morning or evening.
  • ✕ Meghri — One of Armenia's warmest areas; longer outdoor activities are more comfortable outside the hottest part of the day.

Events this month

July is one of the busiest months of the summer tourism season, with cultural, musical, culinary, and outdoor events taking place across the country.

  • 12 Jul Vardavar
  • 12 Jul Golden Apricot Film Festival
